The economic performance, as measured by GVA per capita, has tended to outperform that achieved nationally. Telford hosts the largest manufacturing sector as a proportion of the local economy in the region, equivalent to over a fifth of the locally produced GVA (compared to 10% UK national average). The relative concentration has provided the basis for the development of a cluster of high technology manufacturing enterprises.
